Compass calibration is only required in special cases:
- after long-distance transport, or
- when the controller / GCS explicitly prompts you to calibrate.
For daily operations, you normally do NOT need to recalibrate.
Quick note: In areas with strong magnetic interference—metal structures, power facilities, or vehicles nearby—you may see “abnormal heading” on the controller. In this case, calibration is not always necessary. First, move the drone to a more open area, away from metal and electromagnetic sources, then recheck GPS and compass/heading status.
If calibration is required: On the controller, find Compass Calibrate. We recommend doing this with two people:
Follow the on-screen and voice instructions:
- Hold the drone level, then rotate it 360°.
- When prompted for vertical calibration, rotate the drone 90° onto its side, then rotate it 360° again.
- Continue until you hear “Calibration complete.”
Then place the drone down. Calibration is done.
