How To Test A Power Transformer

1. Check the transformer oil for degradation or contamination.

2. Inspect the transformer for any noticeable damage or leaks.

3. Measure the winding resistance of each phase.

4. Check the insulation resistance of the transformer windings.

5. Conduct a polarity test to ensure the correct connection of windings.

6. Perform a load loss and impedance measurement to determine the efficiency of the transformer.

7. Conduct a partial discharge test to check for any insulation breakdown or defects.

8. Perform a frequency response analysis to check the frequency response of the transformer.

9. Check the transformer oil level and perform a dielectric breakdown test to check the insulating properties of the transformer oil.

It is important to note that these tests should be performed by trained and qualified personnel and in accordance with the official testing and maintenance standards.
