Difference Indoor Dry Transformer And Outdoor Dry Transformer

The application of dry transformers is very common in our lives. It is generally installed in multi-storey buildings, airports, ports and other indoor venues. It is generally not recommended to install outdoor dry transformer.

In fact, outdoor dry transformer can be installed outdoors, and there are many problems that need to be paid attention to when installing outdoor dry transformer, which is more troublesome than indoor dry transformer installation. Strict attention must be paid to relevant matters during outdoor installation.

Transformers can be divided into outdoor dry transformer and indoor dry transformer according to the installation conditions. According to industry standards, indoor dry transformers are generally installed indoors. When the customer requires outdoor installation, a special protective enclosure is

required (higher protection level, such as IP44, which requires protection from water ingress from the side, and does not provide a way to enter and exit the top).

Why can't outdoor dry transformer be used directly outdoors? If used outdoors, the current dry-type transformers have the following three insulation problems:

① The tensioning structure of the iron core adopts the structure of channel steel + pull plate. In this structure, the pull plate is located between the coil and the iron core. The material of the pull plate is iron, which is easy to rust. In the sun and rain, the insulation layer on the outer surface of the pull plate is easily damaged, resulting in short-circuit damage to the transformer. In addition, the pull plate is located between the coil and the iron core, occupying a certain space, increasing the inner diameter of the coil, wasting coil material and increasing power consumption.

②The self-drying resin insulating paint layer on the surface of the iron core is easily weathered and cracked after being exposed to the sun and rain. Problems will arise.

③Low-voltage coils and high-voltage coils are casted with epoxy resin, and epoxy resin is not strong against cracking and ultraviolet rays. This kind of outdoor dry transformer is used outdoors. After long-term exposure to the sun, wind and rain, the epoxy resin will crack and eventually The insulation is completely broken, causing a short circuit in the coil.
